Due to the recent hurricanes, direct flights to Key West are incredibly cheap right now. Key West is one of my favorite places in the world to hang out and unwind, and if you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway, there are some great deals to be found.
Despite several of the Keys getting hammered by the storms, Key West got lucky and escaped much of the recent weather onslaught so most of the island is still intact. Back in the early part of this year, Mrs. Lite Adventurer and I planned a long weekend trip in mid-October to celebrate our one year anniversary, and we will definitely still be going. The island officially opens to visitors on October 1, and that includes the airport, the bridge roads, and many of the hotels. I’ve been told that the bars are already up and running again, and all the polydactyl Hemingway cats are still alive and well.
If you want to browse some flights, I usually start with Google Flights and then book directly on the airline’s website when I find one I like. If you get a hotel on Duval Street, you don’t even really need a rental car; it’s a very walkable place.
